Our mission

kyoord was founded by Dr. Limor Goren to provide the world with premium high-phenolic olive oil that elevates the everyday. Packed with polyphenols, most notably oleocanthal and oleacein, these antioxidant molecules are known for contributing to your overall health and wellbeing. We’ve made it our mission to educate the world on the numerous benefits of enjoying high-phenolic olive oil for living a full and extraordinary life.

Food as medicine

Olive oil has been used for millennia around the Mediterranean as part of the everyday diet and is known to support optimal health. At kyoord, we’ve created a new frontier in olive oil, bringing the incredibly potent and healing benefits of high-phenolic olive oil to market.

The European Union acknowledged the health benefits of high-phenolicl olive oil, and it allows oils that contain a minimum level of beneficial polyphenols to be labeled with a health claim.

Recently, the FDA also added olive oil to its list of foods that can be labeled as "healthy".

Not all olive oil is created equal

Factors such as the type of olive tree, time of harvest, and milling methods greatly influence the quality of the oil and its composition. Some specially made extra virgin olive oils contain high levels of beneficial molecules called polyphenols (or biophenols). These olive oils are the healthiest oils to use for cooking, baking, drizzling, and even sipping!

What is high-phenolic olive oil?

The term high-phenolic olive oil describes  oils with the highest level of these healthy molecules. High-phenolic olive oils are exceptionally rich in the active ingredients that are believed by scientists and nutritionists to offer protection and support health.

Who is behind kyoord?

The founder of kyoord, Dr. Limor Goren is a cancer researcher and molecular biologist. Her research centers on one of the most important anti-inflammatory molecules found in medicinal olive oil called Oleocanthal. Dr. Goren discovered one of the mechanisms by which Oleocanthal is toxic to cancer and showed that olive oils that are rich in oleocanthal are an effective strategy to kill various types of cancer cells.

Dr. Goren started kyoord after she received numerous requests from friends and family for the olive oil she used in her research, and realized it was not easily accessible in the US. She searched the world for the best high-phenolic olive oil and ultimately came across a small family-owned farm and mill in Corfu Greece, which had just won an award for having the highest concentration of oleocanthal ever discovered at that time.

From here, kyoord was born and Dr. Goren’s mission to advocate for the health benefits of olive oil took hold. It is her goal to spread awareness about this holistic approach to health, and to make high-phenolic olive oil accessible to consumers.
