Olive Oil Magic Shell
With just 2 simple ingredients, our chocolate Magic Shell makeover comes together in less than a minute and is an amazing way to sneak some more polyphenols into your kid's diet in the form of a sweet treat. Melted chocolate and olive oil come together in this healthy homemade topping that hardens as it coats cold ice cream, creating a crisp, delicious, crackable shell.
1/4 cup Kyoord High-phenolic extra-virgin Olive Oil
4 ounces chopped dark chocolate or chips (we suggest chocolate with a 60% cacao percentage or higher)
1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt, or to taste
Add the chopped chocolate or chips to a medium, heat-safe bowl and set it aside.
Over medium heat, warm the olive oil in a small saucepan till it is just shimmering, which occurs at about 275 degrees. Remove from heat before it starts to boil.
Pour the warm olive oil overtop of the chocolate, and using a silicone spatula or whisk, stir until smooth. Season with salt to taste.
Spoon over your favorite cold desserts, like ice cream, use to dip frozen bananas, or drizzle it over milkshakes!
