Simple but delicious, this popcorn recipe will be the perfect addition to your next movie night. It is incredibly straightforward, and therefore, an easy and exciting activity to do with the kids.
By making popcorn at home, you are avoiding the highly refined oils and preservatives that you find in many store bought brands. We suggest using olive oil, as it’s the healthiest oil option and it helps to create the ultimate crunch.
We have recommended seasoning your popcorn with a drizzle of olive oil and a pinch of salt, but there are endless topping options for you to choose from. Popcorn tastes great with spices including black pepper, cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes. The olive oil will also help these spices stick to the popcorn, creating a perfect layering of flavor. Other toppings you can try include nutritional yeast, for a vegan take on the classic melted butter flavor, or my personal favorite, Zaatar (a savory, tangy middle eastern herb mix)!

Olive Oil Popcorn
6 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup popcorn kernels
Heat 2 to 3 tablespoons of the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add the popcorn kernels, and cover the pot. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, occasionally shaking the pot.
Once the kernels have popped, turn off the heat and drizzle the popcorn with the remaining olive oil while stirring.
Season with salt and then give one final stir.
Transfer to a serving bowl.
